Solving a Production Bottleneck
Calheiros Embalagens’s packing process started to experience some limitations.

Calheiros Embalagens is constantly seeking to improve the capabilities of its machines. The move towards automation was just a question of time and finding the right equipment.

IMPACK Automated Packing and Stacking Solutions
With the goal of boosting productivity and improving the experience of their operators, Calheiros Embalagens installed Impack’s VIRTUO automatic packer with IN3 box turner at the end of one of their folder-gluer production lines in 2019. The VIRTUO is designed for medium to large boxes made of carton and corrugated board.
On February 10th, 2020, Calheiros installed an EVERIO stacker, IN3 XL Box Turner and an ATS automatic banding system at the end of another folder-gluer line. The EVERIO’s flexibility allows Calheiros to process various types of boxes – some with complex designs.
The number of operators needed for the packing, stacking and banding process has been reduced. Operators were redeployed to other areas to perform higher value-added activities. Featuring short changeover set-up times and high operating speeds, the EVERIO stacker solution improved operations and boosted productivity. Calheiros Embalagens was able to increase production by approximately 35% to 40%.
